To keep our lists fresh and up to date we regularly screen our data against the following suppression screening tools:

The Bereavement Register

This is compiled by a FREEPOST registration scheme. When someone dies, the local government registrar has to be notified within 7 days to officially register the death, at which point the bereaved family has the opportunity to register the death via this scheme minimizing future mail.

GAS (Gone Away Suppression) File

6.4% of the population move each year – that’s over 9,000 people daily, throughout the year The REaD Group collects positive information about new householders from its alliances with companies in the property, financial, and mortgage business sectors. Further verification then takes place in order to create the comprehensive Gone Away Suppression File.

Telephone Preference Service Suppression File (TPS)

Telephone Preference Service contains details of individuals who have subscribed to the service stating that they do not wish to receive unsolicited telephone calls. Hi-Tech Marketing receives and updates the file on a daily basis ensuring our clients are able to comply with all relevant legislation and keep telephone lists up to date.

Mailing Preference Service Suppression File (MPS)

The Mailing Preference Service (MPS) is a compiled list of individuals who would prefer not to receive unsolicited direct mail; names are suppressed at household level and remain on the file for five years. We also host the Baby Mailing Preference Service aimed at minimizing distress of parents who have suffered a miscarriage, or whose baby is stillborn, or has died in the first weeks of life.

The National Suppression File (NSF)

The NSF combines various data from the members of the consortium and can be divided into key data sets as follows: Postal Returns (assumed gone aways), Electoral Roll Changes (assumed gone aways), The Electoral Roll delete file, Notifications (confirmed gone aways), Complied from Gone Away Suppression (GAS) file and National change of address (NCOA).

National Change of Address (NCOA)

Sourced from the Royal Mail's Redirection database, (NCOA) enables relocation addresses of clients who have changed address to be appended.

Universal Suppression Service (USS)

The new suppression from the Royal Mail enables your database to be kept up to date through a combination of postal returns, client notifications and redirections.
